Bach Flower Remedies

There are many flower remedies and essences now available which come from different parts of the world. However, the Bach Flower Remedies are probably the most popular and well known.

They were discovered by Dr. Edward Bach, a doctor of Welsh origins, who was not only a doctor with a practice in London, but also a bacteriologist, an immunologist and a homeopath.

He was aware, even in those days, of the connection emotions had on physical conditions and in this respect he was way ahead of his time.

Nowadays, most people worldwide have heard of Dr. Bach’s Rescue Remedy, but there are also 38 remedies in total which are divided into 7 groups:

  • Fear
  • Loneliness
  • Despondency
  • Uncertainty
  • Over-Sensitivity
  • Insufficient interest in the present
  • Over-concern for the welfare of others

Each remedy treats a different feeling. When we are content and happy, our general health reflects these feelings. We tend to be positive in our outlook whether at work, with family or friends, etc. If we are feeling stressed, unhappy, fearful and angry or aggrieved, our emotions reflect this.  Our physical health is often affected and our outlook may well be very negative.

The remedies work on the emotions and can help us to rebalance our lives, which in turn helps to restore harmony. Bach Flower Remedies work for all ages, from children to the elderly, are completely safe and can be taken with conventional medicine.

They do not replace medical advice, but work alongside any such treatments.

They can also be used with animals and plants.

Animals IconAs the remedies work on the emotions, they can also be of great help to animals in situations where there is fear, anxiety or stress, in any shape or form. Although you can use the remedies for your animals (eg. Rescue Remedy in case of emergency before you reach your vet), please note that as a Registered Animal Practitioner, I work with remedies under referral from your vet.

Your vet is always your first point of contact with regard to your animal’s health and welfare. The remedies do not replace veterinary attention.
